Tropical Waters - 70% Superwash Merino Wool + 30% Silk / DK Base

This lovely color is on our 70% Merino Wool + 30% Silk and is a 3 ply Fine Fingering/Fine Sport weight with 370 yards. This combination of Merino Wool and Silk has the softness, warmth and quality you would expect with luxury yarns.

Merino Wool is a 100% natural and renewable sustainable resource. It is also biodegradable, organic and environmentally friendly.  Recent studies have proven that Fine Merino Wool garments worn next to the skin are a natural remedy against eczema. They act as a second skin and stabilize the "humidity level and the microclimate of the skin surface." They are proven to reduce symptoms such as redness, itch and rush especially in those who suffer from dermatological conditions. 

This combination of Merino Wool and Silk is soft, smooth and itch free, even for the most sensitive skin. The silk content gives this beautiful base a bit more weight and drape than simply a pure merino, and also carries a beautiful slight sheen, that is absolutely gorgeous.  (For many years, I was hesitant to purchase this base from other dyers because I wasn’t fond of what I thought was sheen.  However, after taking the plunge and purchasing some, then seeing it in person, I fell in love.  Trust me when I tell you, that photos simply do not do this yarn justice, on anyone’s site.  I am so in love with this gorgeous base, that I have dyed some, to make a few gorgeous wraps,  as gifts for the holidays.  If there was ever a base to “spurge on” it’s this one!  I am absolutely certain that you will love it! 

Wonderful projects for our Merino Wool/Silk base would be accessories, shawls, garments with cables, garments with color-work, garments with textured stitches and lace work.  The possibilities are honestly endless!

We suggest using a US 4-6 Knitting Needles and a size G/J Crochet Hook. (This is only a suggestion, everyone's tension varies, please use what is the most comfortable for you!)

As with all naturally hand dyed yarns, we recommend hand washing your finished piece, using a PH Balanced Soap such as Mrs. Myer's Clean Day Lavender Laundry.
