Large White Agate Gemstones on Sterling Silver French Hook Earrings

Our lovely, large White Agate Gemstones set on Sterling Silver French Hooks, are the perfect summer statement. They will pair very nicely with many of our Sea Glass Pendants. This pair of White Agate is 16 x 20mm in size. They look large, however they are not heavy. 

White Agate is a type of Chalcedony, which has different levels of opacity and translucency. (Chalcedony does not have a universally recognized grading system, as it's less about a standardized assessment and more about the unique characteristics of each stone.) White Agate takes a very long time to form, and it is extremely stable. It’s found all over the world and has a 6-7 rating on the Mohs hardness scale. The bands of this stone are formed by lava waves, which lay down silica and quartz, creating a smooth rounded shape. This set of earrings are both very smooth. 

Over 3,000 years ago, Ancient Egyptians used White Agate for cooking vessels, sealstones and talismans. It was often used by the Ancient Greeks in their jewelry making. The Greek philosopher Theophrastus, named the Gemstone after the Achates River. 

White Agate has been known to enhance intuition.
