This lovely color is on our 100% Superwash Merino Lambswool, Aran Weight base. It has 4 plies and 6 wpi. There are approximately 180 yards of gorgeous yarn per skein. (In the third photo the bases are as follows, from left to right, Mohair, 100% Organic Merino Fingering, Baby Alpaca Sport Weight, Lambswool Aran Weight and 100% Fine Organic Merino Worsted/Aran Weight.)
Lambswool is wool taken from the first shearing of sheep, usually when they are around seven months old. Merino is a breed of sheep whose wool has especially soft, long and fine fibers. These fibers are uniquely crimped to hold warmth while still remaining lightweight. Merino lambswool is considered the finest of these fibers.
Merino Lambswool is an extremely soft and luxurious yarn which should not cause you any itching or any irritation. Its ultra fine fibers provide a uniquely soft touch.
Merino Lambswool is light and drapey, fluffy and soft. It is perfect for everything from shawls and blankets, to sweaters and mittens.
We suggest using a US 6-8 Knitting Needle and a size I/K Crochet Hook. (This is only a suggestion, everyone’s tension varies, please use what is the most comfortable for you!)
All of Sand Castles and Sea Shells Yarns are certified mulesing free.
As with all naturally hand dyed yarns, we recommend hand washing your finished piece, using a PH Balanced Soap such as Mrs. Myer’s Clean Day Lavender Laundry.
Please note, these 4 skeins are the second dyeing of Grape Popsicle. If you bought any skeins from the first dye pot, there will be differences. I am including a small video which allows you to see the entire skein. On this base there is little, to no noticeable shading. All 4 skeins are nearly identical to one another. We still suggest alternating skeins, as you would with all small batch, hand dyed yarn. Should you want further photos, please reach out to us, we will be happy to help you!
