Tropical Waters - 100% Baby Alpaca/ Sport Weight Base

This lovely color is on our three ply, 100% Baby Alpaca, Sport Weight base.  There are approximately 290 yards of gorgeous yarn per skein.

We source our Alpaca from Peru, as they produce the best quality Alpaca in the world, for their fibers are the softest and the finest.  This yarn comes from a young alpaca’s first shearing, and is more delicate than many other fibers.  Baby Alpaca is both incredibly soft and very lightweight.  It is also naturally hypoallergenic, which makes it a wonderful choice for people who have allergies, or who are sensitive to other types of fibers. 

Alpacas are also extremely gentle on the environment, as they require very little resources while being raised.  Therefore, Baby Alpaca Fiber is a very sustainable choice, for those who are looking to reduce their impact on the environment.

Baby Alpaca is also extremely durable which makes it a great choice for garments which will be worn frequently.  It is perfect for everything from sweaters, to scarves and mittens.  This yarn will indeed produce heirloom quality pieces.

We suggest using a US 3- 5 Knitting Needle and a size G Crochet Hook.  (This is only a suggestion, everyone’s tension varies, please use what is the most comfortable for you.)

As with all naturally hand dyed yarns, we recommend hand washing your finished piece, using a PH Balanced Soap such as Mrs. Myer’s Clean Day Lavender Laundry.  (Please note that our Glacier Ice skeins vary in shades of color, from hints of warm ivory to shades of light blue.)
