Vintage Gold - 100% Merino Lambswool / Worsted Weight Base

All of the color ways in our Vintage Holiday Collection are on the same lovely base, our 100% Superwash Merino Lambswool, Worsted Weight base.  It has 4 plies and about 6 wpi.  There are approximately 245 yards of gorgeous yarn per skein.  Our 100% Superwash Merino Lambswool is spun in the United States.  

Our Vintage Gold adds a lovely hue to our Vintage Holiday Collection.  Vintage Gold has some very lovely shading, which in direct sunlight, leans towards    a very subtle orange but in the firelight looks very much like a deep gold.  (Sometimes there’s no explaining the results of natural dyeing.)  Vintage Gold  pairs quite nicely with our Vintage Green, as well as all of the other color ways in our Vintage Holiday Collection!

Lambswool is wool taken from the first shearing of sheep, usually when they are around seven months old. Merino is a breed of sheep whose wool has especially soft, long and fine fibers.  These fibers are uniquely crimped to hold warmth while still remaining lightweight. Merino lambswool is considered the finest of these fibers.

Merino Lambswool is an extremely soft and luxurious yarn which should not cause you any itching or any irritation.  Its ultra fine fibers provide a uniquely soft touch.  

Merino Lambswool is light and drapey, fluffy and soft.  Knitters love working with Merino Lambswool due to its softness and for another fine quality, it is known not to shrink.  It will retain both of these qualities even after repeated washings.   Our Vintage Holiday Collection skeins would be perfect to knit or crochet a beautiful heirloom, Christmas Stocking, as well as hats, mittens and scarves!  

We suggest using a US  4-7 Knitting Needle and a size G-I Crochet Hook. (This is only a suggestion, everyone’s tension varies, please use what is the most comfortable for you!)

As with all naturally hand dyed yarns, we recommend hand washing your finished piece,  using a PH Balanced Soap such as Mrs. Myer’s Clean Day Lavender Laundry.
